I wonder where you go to feel close to God?
What is a Metaphor?
A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes an object or action by saying it is another thing. It isn’t literally true, but it helps explain an idea or make a comparison. A metaphor states that one thing is another thing. It equates those two things not because they actually are the same, but for the sake of comparison or symbolism.
Here are some examples of metaphors:
My life is a rollercoaster.
The classroom was a zoo the day we had a substitute teacher.
You are my sunshine.
The snow was a white blanket on the lawn.
Next week, we’ll start exploring some of the metaphors that we can find in the Bible that describe what God is like! Do you have any guesses what we might find?
