Caring for Creation - Take Action!
/All month long, we have been celebrating God’s creation and considering ways that we can love, protect, and care for the earth and all its living things. First we learned about Saint Francis of Assisi and talked about caring for animals. Then we read a true story written by a young Native American boy called Young Water Protectors, and we discussed how we can protect our waterways. In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we listened to a story from the Choctaw Tribe, called The Cloud Artist.
After all of our thinking, wondering, and learning, it feels like it’s time to take some action! Today we will be sharing ideas for real things you can do to care for God’s earth, its creatures, and all living things.
All of us have different gifts, talents, and abilities. I wonder how you will use your own talents as you care for creation?

Create Art
North Liberty storm drain painting:
The city of North Liberty invited kids to create designs for painting storm drains. Because storm drains lead to our rivers and lakes, litter and pollutants can harm the animals and wildlife that live there. Murals painted on the storm drains throughout North Liberty can remind the public the important role these drains play in Iowa’s water quality and our responsibility to keep them clean. Check out these storm drain murals, and if you have an idea for your own storm drain mural, you can submit your proposal here.
