Jesus Walks With Us

Last week we heard the story of Jesus being killed on the cross and coming back to life again after three days. On Easter we celebrate that God’s love is even more powerful than death, and his love never ever gives up. What an amazing story! But that wasn’t the end of Jesus’ time on earth. Before he went to heaven, Jesus appeared to many of his followers. Today we’re looking at one of these stories.

Story: Jesus Appears on the Road to Emmaus

Bible Verse: Luke 24:13-35

Wondering Questions

When we read stories from the Bible, we can wonder about what they might mean and what we can learn from them. Talk to your family about what you wonder.

  • I wonder why God kept the two followers from recognizing Jesus?

  • I wonder why their hearts felt warm when they were walking with Jesus?

  • I wonder if your heart has ever felt warm when you’ve talked with God?

  • I wonder how this story makes you feel?

Song: Walking with Jesus

After reading about Jesus walking with some of his followers, it makes me want to walk with Jesus too! Let’s sing about it! Can you follow along with the words and actions of this song?

Activity

The road to Emmaus is one example of a story when Jesus walks with his followers. I like to imagine Jesus walking alongside me when I am lonely or scared, but also when I’m happy. No matter what road you are on, Jesus wants to walk with you, too.

The activity below is just for fun–can you help Jesus and his followers find their way through the maze to get to Emmaus?

Bible Verse

There are many verses in the Bible that talk about walking with God, following God, walking with Jesus, or walking in the light. Here is one verse that can remind us of Jesus’ love and light when we follow him.

John 8:12 ESV
