Jesus Appears on the Road to Emmaus
/We’re exploring the stories of Jesus appearing after his death and before he ascends to heaven. This week we tell the story of Jesus meeting some his followers as they are walking along the road to Emmaus.

I Wonder Questions:
When we read stories from the Bible, we can wonder about what they might mean and what we can learn from them. Talk to your family about what you wonder.
I wonder why God kept the two followers from recognizing Jesus?
I wonder what Jesus taught them while they were walking along the road?
I wonder where Jesus was, or where he came from, when he joined his followers on the road to Emmaus? (The Bible doesn’t say.)
I wonder why their hearts felt warm when they were walking with Jesus?
I wonder if your heart has ever felt warm when you’ve talked with God?
I wonder what they talked about on their way back to Jerusalem?
I wonder why they walked back to Jerusalem that night, when it was already late, instead of waiting until the morning?
I wonder how this story makes you feel?
*Note: Next week, we will be telling another story about Jesus and his followers, and we would like YOU to help us tell this story! You can see the story script, choose a part to act out or illustrate, and sign up your child’s name here. Please send your photo or video to lianna@sanctuaryic.org by Thursday April 30. Thank you for helping us tell this story!
Verse/Coloring Page:
If you have access to a printer, you can print and color this week’s Bible verse. I wonder what it would feel like for you to walk and talk with Jesus!
