The Great Banquet

The way Jesus loved people was different. The people Jesus loved were different. The amazing things Jesus said and did were so very different from what the rest of the world said and did.

A few weeks ago we looked at the story of Zacchaeus and saw how Jesus chose to spend time with and love a person that nobody else loved. Last week we looked at a story of Jesus and children, and saw how Jesus responded to people who were often overlooked. This week we will look at a story of who Jesus thought should be invited to a big banquet, which is another word for a feast.

Story: The Parable of the Great Banquet

Imagine a big banquet or feast with a long table, many places to sit, and lots of food. Who would be invited? Who does Jesus think should be invited?

This story comes from the Bible in Luke 14:7-24. Watch the video below to see what happens.

Isn’t God’s love so amazing? Let’s pray together and thank God for teaching us about love, kindness, and hospitality.

Loving God,

Thank you for inviting people that others ignore.

Your love is so big and wide!

Help us love people the way you do.

Amen.
