Happy Mother's Day!
/Today is Mother’s Day. This is a day to celebrate mothers and the love, comfort, guidance, and care they give to us. Who takes care of you? Is there someone who feeds you, reads to you, teaches you, or plays with you? Today you can celebrate your mom or any grownup that helps take care of you.
In the Bible, sometimes God is compared to a mother or a father. (See a lesson on this here: Metaphors for God - Mother and Father.) The Bible verse below is just one of them.
Video - Animal Parents
Let’s watch a video of some different examples of parents around the world!
It’s so amazing to see animals, birds, and creatures of all kinds care for their little ones and help them grow up safe and healthy. All over the world, older creatures are taking care of younger creatures, feeding them, carrying them, and finding a safe place for them to sleep. Isn't it wonderful?
Wondering Together
I wonder why God made parents?
I wonder what it feels like to be comforted in the arms of a loving grownup?
I wonder how we can celebrate the grownups in our lives that take care of us today?
Activities
Today we can celebrate mothers, as well as all the people who love you and take care of you. One way to celebrate is to say thank you for what they do. Would you like to create a gift to show your grownup how much you appreciate them?

Songs
Here are two songs that we can sing to celebrate the love and care of a parent. The first song can be about anyone you love. The second song is sung to God, who is like a mother or father to all of us.
Prayer
Mother God,
Thank you for loving us as a mother loves her child.
Thank you for mothers and all the grownups who care for us and help us.
Amen.
